Students Pitch Startup Ideas at the 2019 Idea Challenge
Nearly 100 people attended the 2019 Idea Challenge at Rowan University’s Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (RCIE). The RCIE partners with the Rowan Innovation Venture Fund for the annual competition to provide students with an opportunity to win thousands of dollars in support funding, legal assistance and startup accounting support towards their idea. This year, nine finalist teams pitched to a panel of accomplished entrepreneurs including Tony Calabrese, Melissa Schipke, and Mike Williams.
The teams varied from a 3D printed food cafe to an app for high school students struggling to find a career path. According to the judges, the presentations were informative and professional and it was an extremely close call picking the winners.
Co-Founders Benjamin Taylor and Nicole Testa of Tangible 3D Solutions won First Place for their service that offers 3D Printed Ultrasound Models to parents and families who want to enhance their pregnancy through the power of touch.
ChronoCare, a technology platform that is helping hospitals improve their compliance with federally mandated treatment standards, working on both the bedside and administrative levels, took home Second Place.
SafeQuest came in Third Place for their idea to revolutionize campus safety through an application built for the modern student. SafeQuest’s user-friendly application is comprised of four main feature’s that will help students whether they need the police, need their friends, are walking, or getting in an Uber.
Honorable Mentions were given to the GlassRoots Project, a production company specializing in creating historical town videos, and FerroFixit, a device that allows a person to scan blood and connect with donors from different blood donation facilities.
Great job to all participating teams and a huge thank you to our judges and sponsors for making the 2019 Idea Challenge a success!
